Fornought House - Perthshire
« back

Acanthus Architects df were commissioned after winning a design competition to design & then administer the construction & completion of proposals on a site in Perthshire for a private client.

The house was to be traditional in design, inspired by late 18th Century Italian villas. The house is located with spectacular commanding views south to hills in central Perthshire.

Our design for a house at Fornought was inspired by Italian villas & includes a large family home with high quality service wing adjoining, a generous guest wing, garaging, & stores.

We used Clashach Moray Sandstone for detailing on the main house & the adjoining buildings, along with lime harling, natural slate & joiner shop manufactured woodwork.

Our practice has good relations with planners in Morayshire, Aberdeenshire, City of Aberdeen, Perthshire, Edinburgh & Glasgow. Our proposals for Fornought quickly won approval allowing the house & outbuildings to be completed, commissioned & handed over to our clients in a methodical manner after completion.

Early concept sketches & colour visuals, which won us a limited design competition administered by our clients, almost exactly reflected the resultant completed house in Spring 2005.
